his name shall be.....

Silas.

He's a Silas. We will keep his Ethiopian name as his middle name. I can't wait until I can share that too. And his sweet face. I think you will melt. I know we are still in a melted state....

My friend Christine emailed me about the meaning of Silas. Everything we had seen up to this point said that Silas meant "wood, from the forest" (not very exciting or sweet). But I believe we gave him a fitting name....

Silas: This name comes from the Aramaic word that means "asked for." Silas was a member of the early church who was, at one time, jailed with Paul for his beliefs.

We definitely asked for him and He gave us imeasurably more than we asked or imagined (see Eph 3:20).

[from Family Education]

The LORD has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy. Psalm 126:3

Love the name! I don't remember which one I voted for. Do you follow the "Ethiopia or Bust" blog? Their little boy is Silas and he is a doll! Can't wait to meet yours!

Jill, congrats on the referral! I also love the name Silas. Regarding the giraffe- at Christmas time I saw it in an ad for World Market. But they quickly sold out, so believe it or not, I found one at Kroger's (a grocery store, if you're not familiar with it). My husband also saw them at Toys R Us but they cost twice as much there. Hope that helps! I'll be praying for a speedy successful court date for y'all!

Ohhhh sweet Silas - congratulations. I bet you two just cried when you "put" the name with the picture of your son's face. WONDERFUL! Of course we are excited to read and eventually see the 3 of you united. It is GOOD.
