Sam & Esther

In the last couple of weeks, this video has popped up on several blogs I read. Just from the still shot on the video, I knew I didn't want to watch it. I knew it would be painful. I knew it would haunt me. I knew it would break my heart.

I wish our little family blog here could only be filled with sweet pictures of Silas and us living our daily life. But deep down, in my core, I hope our little family is about more than that. Please don't skip over this. Watch it. I'll admit that's it's hard to watch. I'm not a "crier", but this has me weeping.

It's aSnowBama day!

We woke up to Silas talking through his monitor. "They" said it was going to snow. We had hope, but didn't really believe it. It's snowing, alright. Here are some pictures from our morning...

Silas watched through the window as Daddy took Sophie outside.

He didn't really get the concept of "snow angel" but he looked a lot like the little boy in the movie, A Christmas Story.

This is real snow...I can't believe it!

We are all home, snuggling up and enjoying the inauguration.
We hope you have a Happy SnowBama Day!
(Be sure you scroll down...I did a lot of updating yesterday. :)

Confession

I've been cheating on you.

Yes, it's Facebook.

I know. You're hurt.

I just finished filling in the blog. Make sure you scroll down for "Merry Christmas, Ya'll", "On the Road Again", and "Blue Ridge Mountains, NC".

For some reason, Silas likes to sit right in the middle of this dog bed while we're in the kitchen. He quickly moves on, but he always makes a stop there. I call it his thinking chair...."where can I go next? What was that I touched that they said 'No Touch!'? I should go back there and see if that's still the case...."

Hmmm. This would be one of those places. I know it didn't send a good message to grab the camera, but I'm a blogger, people. And he was highly supervised. He's a helper, what can I say? Oh yeah, "NO Touch!"

Blue Ridge Mountains, NC

Last weekend we got to go on a marriage retreat with all of the Chaplain families in our Brigade. It was beautiful and cold! And we had a real fireplace.
Sophie absolutely loves the snow. She likes to eat it.

Look at Silas..."Momma you are so cheesy!"

My guys are so handsome.

We hear there's snow on the way here, so we're off to the grocery store. Happy Martin Luther King, Jr. Day!
Dr. King, thank you for your dream. Thank you for daring to dream it AND speak it.

On the road again!

Sunday morning after Christmas, we went to our beloved First Baptist Church for the last time. Next time we go, they will be in a new building. This is the church we were raised in, baptized in and married in. A church is the people, not the building, but lots of special milestones happened here. It was neat to walk through the hallways and remember 1st grade Sunday School, painting the youth department, working the nursery, serving in ministry, etc. Silas had fun in the nursery because Aunt Katy was working his room.
Silas and PawPaw had some good laughs together.

Still lots of walking with assistance but no interest in doing it by himself. With so many people at his service, I don't blame him for holding out. :)

We spent New Year's Eve playing Wii Bowling and laughing a lot. Competitive fun would be an understatement.

"Happy New Year! Now where is that waitress!?"

Back to Texas with a stop in Georgia.

Vicksburg, Mississippi Battleground...we spent the night in Vicksburg. Marshall hoped I would forget that I wanted us to go through the Battleground. ;)

Sophie and I got out and explored on the tour.

Battleship Museum

Silas slept through his first Battleground tour. Don't worry, sweets, we have the tour CD so we can stop many more times.

So fun to stop in Georgia and spend time with Buddy, Gloria, Ben and Amy.
So good to be home again, but I'd make the trip again tomorrow. We are blessed to have such a wonderful family whom we adore.
