It's Snowing!

It's finally here.....snow! I went out to walk Sophie, in her new coat no less, and it was snowing. I buzzed Marshall and he came down for our walk. We all enjoyed it. I got her the coat this evening because it has gotten really cold the last few days....good thing!

Now we are waiting for approval from our agency. We also emailed a social worker that was recommended to us to do our home study. Hopefully we will hear from him soon so we can begin that step.

We've also been talking about ways to raise money for the adoption. If you have any interesting ideas, please let us know. I've been looking around and have seen some fun ones. Creative people, let us hear from you!

I need to go thaw my feet....

I don't even know how to spell the word blog but I am trying to send y'all a note. I am excited at your journey toward adopting Noah. Thanks for keeping us in the loop and giving me a way I can "keep current" even from the desert (where I am headed soon).

May the Lord continue to bless y'all, your marriage, your ministry and your growing family! I am so thankful our lives "overlapped" like they did and I look forward to serving with y'all again! JAY

Perhaps the Officers wives could sponsor a dance and silent auction.
(people would have to donate good stuff for the auction) Tanner does this each year for our Foundation and always have plenty of stuff for the auction and always make lots of money.
Hope you get some great ideas for fund raising.
Love and prayers,
Gloria

We did not do any fundraising with our adoption, so I'm not much help with that. However, in terms of maximizing the money that you are saving for the adoption, you can open an online savings account through a company like ING or Emigrant Direct and get up to 5% interest. That way you can earn a great interest rate without tying up your money in CDs or stocks. As many times as you have to write checks for an adoption, you have to keep the money fluid! Also, do you know about the Federal Adoption Credit? After your adoption is complete, you can save up to $11,000 on your taxes over the course of 4-5 years. This helps tremendously. I'm sure we'll talk about all of this, but I just wanted to mention it here while I'm thinking about it!
